Samuel Elkana Latty was born in the best district in Jamaica, Woodside, Clarendon Jamaica on
November 8, 1961 to Parents Abraham Latty and Mirelda Boothe. Samuel was his government
name but in true Jamaican style he had an Alias, and his Alias was "Seymour". At 3 years old
Seymour's mother migrated to England for a better life. She left Seymour in the loving and
capable hands of her parents, Stephen, and Leanora Boothe. They didn't have much but what
they had was enough to keep everyone happy and satisfied. Seymour grew up with his eldest
brother Denzel, and cousins Birchum, Carmen, and Ian. He attended Kilsyth Primary School and
then moved on to Edwin Allen High School. He was a faithful member of the Woodside church
of God ministries. There he became a born-again Christian. Serving the church was something
that Seymour was proud of. Throughout the years he continued to be of service to various
ministries. He served in whatever way he could, and he served faithfully. In 1984 Seymour
became a security guard at the Norman Manley Airport in Kingston, Jamaica. In 1994 Seymour
migrated to the United States to pursue a better life. There he met and married his then wife,
Brenda. After being in the United States for a few years Seymour finally settled in Atlanta
Georgia. There he began a career at FedEx and stayed with the company for 26 years. He loved
his job but due to health issues he had to go on early retirement.
Over the years Seymour's health wasn't always the best but he never let it stop him from living
his best life. He was loved by everyone and captivated by many. With his deep powerful voice
and giant-like stature, he drew everyone's attention. Although he was great in stature his love for
people was even greater. Seymour was a mentor to every person that came in contact with him.
Wherever there was a need he would always fulfill it. He was always giving back to his
community in Jamaica. He contributed to various churches and charities, as well as pay the
tuition for families who weren't able to send their children to school. These are the things that
Seymour loved to do.
Seymour also loved to travel. HE REALLY LOVED TO TRAVEL! You could never predict
when, where, or how Seymour ended up in so many different places throughout the years, but I
guess that is one of the benefits of marrying someone that worked for the airlines. Without
warning sometimes Seymour would just show up at your front door and you couldn't fuss or get
upset, you would just have to let him in. His trips weren't long but spontaneous and
unpredictable. You could talk to Seymour in the morning and by the afternoon he would call you
from another country, that was the life he lived, and he enjoyed it.
Music was another great passion of his. Right now, at his house there is a room downstairs with
enough instruments and sound equipment to open your own studio. He played piano, bass guitar
and he could also hold a tune . In his down time if he wasn't playing music in the basement,
he would be relaxing in his favorite chair watching his favorite baseball team the Atlanta Braves.
If baseball wasn't on, then he would watch a western movie . You knew he was relaxed
when he would recline his chair, while eating a bowl of chicken and laughing loud HA, HA, HA.
Speaking of chicken, Seymour's favorite food was chicken. He had a very good appetite, as you
could imagine for someone his size. He could also cook but whenever he cooked for some reason
some of the chicken would go missing. You see after Seymour finished cooking, unbeknown to
anyone else Seymour always dished out his food first and when everyone was finished eating, he
Would pull out the rest of the chicken and have it all to himself. Between traveling, music, and
eating I am not sure which one Seymour loved most but needless to say, he did everything with a
smile on his face and joy in his eyes.
One of the things that brought Seymour joy was his family. I believe his love for family is what
kept him on the plane over the years. Or maybe what kept him on the planes over the years was
the buddy passes he would get from Brenda. Either way family was very important to him.
Seymour was blessed to have 2 children of his own a boy and a girl, named Davionne and
Laurent. He was also blessed with two grandchildren, Skyy & Mekhi. In total Seymour has 8
siblings, 5 sisters and 3 brothers, nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends. His
Mother Merilda could not make it today due to health issues and resides in London, England.
Unfortunately, a few years ago Seymour lost his son (Laurent) and his other brother (Noel).
In June 2023, Seymour was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Through it all he held on to the
hope that God would turn his situation around. With prayers and support of his loving family,
friends, and church family his faith was steadfast and unwavering to the end. He lived to
celebrate his birthday on November 8, 2023, he was 62 years old. On November 21, 2023,
Seymour passed away at home with two of his sisters and nieces by his side. To say that
Seymour's life was cut short wouldn't be a true statement. Seymour lived life to the fullest. He
didn't let distance, time, money and the ups and downs of his health stop him from being who he
was and being around those he loved the most. If there is anything you should know about
Seymour, you should know that he loved God, and he loved Gods people. He is gone but never
forgotten for Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose

A Funeral Service will be held from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023 with Pastor Evadene Knight and Assistant Pastor Ronald Rhoomes officiating. Then family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
