Mr. Thomas (Check) Smith, age 83, of Stockbridge, passed away Monday, December 24, 2012. He retired from the city of Atlanta in 1991 where he served as the Superintendent of Hartsfield International Airport or better known as "Mr. Airport". He is survived by his loving wife; Shirley Rose Barry Smith, children; Reba Terrell, John Smith, Tina Miller, brother; Roy Smith, sisters; Rachael Atwood, Becky Pace, grandchildren; Sonya Terrell, Zachariah and Amy Terrell, Cynthia Randall, Samantha Smith, Kyle Smith, many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 2 pm in the chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home. Pastor Larry Hammock and Pastor Mike Kofahl will officiate. Interment will be at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday, December 28, 2012 from 5 to 8 pm at Ford-Stewart Funeral Home.
