Mr. Timothy Lee Snipes, age 63 of Jonesboro passed away June 23, 2020. Mr. Snipes was a member of Jonesboro First United Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by his parents: Telford F. "Tep" and Margaret Ellen Snipes.  He is survived by his wife: Elizabeth "Libby" Snipes, daughter: Lindsay (Gabe) Martin of Kennesaw, brother: James (Sandra) Vincent of Odenville, AL., mother-in-law: The Rev. Marti Slife of Jonesboro, and brothers-in-law: John William Slife of Jonesboro and Joseph Martin (Joye) Slife of KY.
Tim was born in Greenville, SC in 1956. Although his family moved to Atlanta, Georgia in his early childhood, Tim's family in South Carolina was a huge part of his life and he loved visiting them in Belton and beyond. Being a Snipes was part of his identity and he always shared stories and recipes from his family. He graduated from Sylvan Hills High School in 1974 where he met his wife, Libby. One of Tim's greatest joys was the annual Sylvan Hills reunion in Perkerson Park where he could reconnect with old friends and make new ones. Tim earned an associate's degree in music from South Georgia College where he also played baseball. He then completed his bachelor's degree at West Georgia in Marketing. Tim and Libby were married in 1980 and had their daughter Lindsay in 1991. Tim loved his girls greatly and especially enjoyed cooking meals as a family. Tim owned Excalibur Iron for twenty one years and built beautiful ironwork for people throughout the community. He loved having the opportunity to be creative and bring his customer's ideas to life. Tim also loved music and was an accomplished guitar player. He played in many bands throughout the years and could often be found anywhere there was live music. Tim enjoyed golf and was often found watching golf tournaments on Sunday afternoons. He was an active member at Jonesboro First United Methodist Church which brought him great joy. He could be found there any time the doors were open and made it his job to know and speak to everyone.  Above all, Tim loved people and they loved him back. He never met a stranger and was the first person to make someone new feel welcome. All who knew him were touched by his friendliness, sense of humor, and loving spirit.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020 at Jonesboro First United Methodist Church with The Rev. Valorie Loner officiating. A Reception will follow the service at the church.
