Mrs. Varina Rachels Nyman age 94, of Griffin passed away April 6, 2018. Mrs. Nyman was a member of First Baptist Church Jonesboro. She retired from the Finance Department at Ft. McPherson. After retiring she worked at the Georgia State Capital Post Office for many years while the Legislature was in session. She was preceded in death by her parents: Machen & Bertha Rachels; sisters: Mildred Layton, Sadie Swint, Lanette Garrett; husband: Arthur W. Nyman, Sr. She is survived by her son: Arthur "Art" W. Nyman, Jr. (Lori) of Griffin; sister: Helen Robinson of Sandersville; grandchildren: Scott Nyman, Jennifer Osse (Kevin), Walt Nyman (Patricia); great grandchildren: Olivia and Jillian Osse, Nicolas Nyman, Tucker and Auburn Nyman; and many, many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, April 10, 2018 in the Chapel of First Baptist Church Jonesboro with Rev. Irvin Pearre and Rev. Hinton Harris officiating. Burial to follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM, Monday, April 9th, 2018 at the funeral home and from 10-11 AM at the church before the service.
