Wade Randolph "Randy" Vaughn, age 76, of Jonesboro, GA, passed away on August 3, 2026. He was born on April 12, 1950 in Griffin, GA to the late Roger M. and Daisy Moore Vaughn. He is survived by his former wife, Linda Vaughn of Hampton; son Jonathan (Meredith) and their children, Cason, Jakob, and Jaxon of White; daughter Melissa of Jonesboro; son Matthew (Miriam) and their child, Atticus Wade of Jonesboro; and daughter Joyia (Jemel) Shade and their children, Gabriella, Naomi, and Christian of Fayetteville; brothers Steve (Janie) Vaughn of Eatonton, and Larry (Joy) Vaughn of Eatonton; and extended family members.
Randy was a mechanical engineer who retired from the EPA after 23 years. He was a life-long gunsmith and avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and exploring wild places across the US. He was quick-witted and loved by his neighbors who affectionately referred to him as "Papa'." Retirement for Randy looked like home additions, tinkering with tractors, and a good fire, after which you could find him retiring to his recliner to enjoy the WNBA with a cigar and a cat on his lap.
He delighted in his family and spoke fondly about the blessings of semi-monthly birthday gatherings, holiday get-togethers, and the regular family lunches at Linda's after church on Sundays. Randy would tell you his life was changed by a summer bible study when he was 19 years old. He was a member at McDonough Christian Church and wasn't shy when it came to his faith in Jesus Christ.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 17th, 6:00pm at McDonough Christian Church (2000 Jonesboro Rd, McDonough, GA 30253).
