Mr. Walter Lawrence "Poppy" Simonds, age 82 of Palmetto passed away December 7, 2019. Mr. Simonds was a loving husband and father, a Braves fan who loved his coffee, respected authority and all people and loved the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents: Edd and Cleo Simonds, wife Jane Walton Simonds, sister: Charlsie Simonds Gillespie Weaver and daughter-in-law: Cheri Dietz Simonds. He is survived by his son: Lance M.  Simonds and wife Leianne of McDonough, daughters: Carolynann Cody of Palmetto and Kelly Sims and husband Chris of Newnan, sisters: Maxine Harbin of Tyrone and grandchildren: Savannah (Jonathan) Sewell, Zack Sims, Connor Cody, Lydia Simonds, Luke Simonds, Nick Sims, Sophie Simonds, Nicole Moses and Cody Rodriguez.  A Graveside Service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Crestlawn Cemetery in Copperhill, TN. with Connor Cody and Lance Simonds officiating.  In lieu of flowers please make contributions to any children's organization for the needy.
