Dr. Wells Riley age 93 of Jonesboro passed away January 16, 2017. Dr. Riley started practicing medicine in Johnston, SC for three and a half years, then he moved his practice to Jonesboro where he served the community for 35 and a half years. He was a past President of The Georgia Academy of Family Physicians. He was Family Physician of the year for Georgia in 1978. He also served on the Georgia State Board of Human Resources. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro where he was very active in numerous leadership positions. He was preceded in death by his loving wife: Nancy B. Riley. He is survived by children: Mike & Pam Riley of Marietta, Wallace & Chris Riley of Clearwater, FL, Richard & Connie Riley of Hampton, Mary & Fred Watkins of Roswell, and Rodney & Michelle Riley of McDonough; brother: Furman Riley of VA; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to recognize the caregivers at Ansley Park and especially his caregiver Leiba Gregory. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, January 19, 2017 in the Chapel of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro with Rev. Irvin Pearre and Rev. Hinton Harris officiating. Burial to follow at 3:30 PM at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Pine Mountain, GA. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM, on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at the funeral home.
