Mrs. Wilda Bray Stapp, age 93, formerly of Riverdale, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Jonesboro Nursing & Rehab. She was born August 8, 1928 in Fayetteville, GA to the late Alvin Homer & Maude Mae Mitchell Bray. Wilda graduated from Fayette County High School in 1946 and retired from the Georgia State patrol where she worked in the Department of Driver Services for 30 years. She was of the Protestant faith and read her bible daily. Wilda loved to read, especially books about history. In addition to her parents, Wilda is preceded in death by her brothers, Herschel W. Bray and Willis Page Bray; sister, Nettie Mae Farr; and her beloved dog, Whiskers.  She is survived by her nephews, Donald Farr and Douglas Bray; her great niece, Deidra Hughes; and her friends, Jean Foust, Pam Boyd, Hilda Smith and Kim Cole. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, March 2, 2022 in the Chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home with Pastor Billy Holloway officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Forest Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Wilda's name may be given to the Clayton County Humane Society, P.O. Box 2116, Jonesboro, GA 30237 or Sacred Journey Hospice, 138 Peach Drive, McDonough, GA 30253.
