Mr. Wm. O. Thomas (Billy) age 86, of Jonesboro, Ga passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Wm. O. Thomas, Jr and Bruce L. Thomas; his brothers and sisters: Earnest, Bobby, Peewee, Bo, Mike, A.V.(ALA), Johnny (VA), Hubert (Ky), Margaret (GA), Dorothy (ALA) and Lela (TN), and his parents Robert and Lottie Thomas. He is survived by Florence A Thomas (wife) of Jonesboro and daughters, Sherry A. Mitcham (Bill) of Fayetteville and Elizabeth Phifer (Richard) of Fayetteville. Billy was born the youngest boy of 17 children in Mobile, ALA on June 18, 1935, and moved to Atlanta, GA when he was 16yo where he met a pretty gal who caught his attention at a Valentines Party for the local high school kids. He and Florence began dating....she was only 13! He turned 17 on June 18th and she turned 14 on July 7th. They were married on July 12th and celebrated almost 70 years of marriage. He worked as a Dental Lab Technician till he retired from Sheffield Dental Lab, but he also worked in the trucking industry loading freight as a secondary job due to the medical expenses his second son incurred from a congenital health condition. He was a hardworking man, a loving and devoted father, and a man who loved God. He spent much time after retiring working with a local church ministry helping others in need. Dad was a member of this group of men known for their mission work to help elderly, widows and handicapped persons with light to moderate home repairs.
